Well Horn fans signing day has come and gone and we are left with a very respectable recruiting class. Depending on where you get your recruiting information (myself, Rivals) we were in the top five in recruiting class. With great snags such as Gilbert, Okafor, Howell, and Whaley, we have a lot to look forward to.
I would say our biggest accomplishment was the offensive line guys we were able to grab. UT locked down 5-star tackle Mason Walters along with two other outstanding 4-star offensive lineman out of the lone star state.
A big loss this season was senior CB Ryan Palmer. Not to worry, with the signing of 4-star CB Marcus Davis, who brings 4.4 speed to the table. Another CB we signed is 6'3 Eryon Barnett, who also has 4.4 speed. With the coaching of Akina, these guys are soon to be lock-down corners.
Look to Tariq Allen at LB,Tevin Mims at DE, and Calvin Howell at DT to play their freshman year and have success. If you remember the Jamarcus McFarland B.S. that went down earlier you will be happy to know that not only did J'mac lose his 5-star status after leaving for OU, he also was surpassed in the defensive rankings by our Mr. Howell. How's that taste OU...?
A solid late commitment was receiving TE Trey Graham. Which is something the Horns realized they desperately needed after the early injury to emerging star Blain Irby. This 3-star beauty is 6-5, around 230, and runs a 4.6 forty.
All in all it was a great year for Texas Football recruiting. There were some ups and downs, i.e. J'mac, but nothing like the Darrel Scott crap from last year. Any UT fan who watched the Horns play last season should feel confident in competing for the National Title next year and with the recruiting class we have brought in there is no reason not to expect the same in the years following.
